Richard B. Cheney is an American public servant, businessman, and politician. Cheney was a well-known person in Washington for many years. George W. Bush was the fourth president whom he served. Bush appointed Cheney his vice-presidential runningmate in 2000, due to Cheney's intelligence and judgment. Dick Cheney was a chief of staff to presidents. He also was a member of the United States Congress as Secretary of Defense, and served the country in a variety of capacities. He's a man of integrity and is respected by Republicans as well as Democrats. Cheney stated that his role in the Bush administration will be that of an honest but quiet advisor. Cheney declared that when he decided to accept the Republican nomination as vice president, he looked forward to being a part of a president who works across the political aisle to achieve goals and will collaborate with opponents with confidence. Richard Bruce Cheney, son of Richard Herbert Cheney & Marjorie Lauraine Dickey was born on the 30th of January, 1941 at Lincoln Nebraska. At the age of 13, Richard moved his family across Nebraska, eventually moving to Casper where his dad was Director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture local district for soil conservation.
